Thorlo, Thorlo, Thorlo - These socks save Soles!!!
One question that we get asked time and time again is are Thorlo socks worth it? Now we could simply say yes and leave it at that, but really how helpful is that?
Ummmmm not really (answering our own question is so not the done thing)!
So returning to this question, are they worth it? Well here is a little information that, we hope, will help you weigh up the pros and cons of purchasing a pair of Thorlos and help make your buying decision a bit easier.
Question: Three reasons to buy Thorlo socks?
1. Thorlo socks are still made in the USA. In-fact Thorlo have resisted the urge to move everything off shore to save and dollar and improve their bottom line. Thorlo have chosen to retain the integrity of their brand and the quality of their product by continuing to manufacture their socks in the USA. The result is one of the best quality socks on the market!
2. The cushioning! If you suffer from any sort of foot problem buy these socks. They have been clinically proven to reduce / eliminate foot related problems. No other sock can say this!
3. They last and last and last. We had a customer, ironically only a few days ago, contact us wanting to replace their old Thorlo hiking socks. They were 10 years old (that's right 10)!!!
Question: Cushioning - How important is it in a sock?
This is what Thorlo socks are known for and it’s very important. It is Thorlos cushioning which separates them from other socks and the reason it is important is because a quality cushioned sock helps protect the bones in your feet. Why should you care? As we age the one part of the body that we actually lose fat from is our feet (shame it can't be elsewhere)! Losing fat from your feet is largely an unavoidable problem – it happens to us all eventually. It's an issue because within our feet are 26 bones, bones which are protected by fat contained within the fat pads on the bottom of our feet. It is these fat pads which protect and reduce the impact on these bones, in particular the metatarsal bones. The loss of fat pads over the ball of our feet can lead to pain in this area, a condition called Metatarsalgia.
We can protect and reduce the pain and impact (and the condition Metatarsalgia) by wearing socks with cushioning. Now before you think any old thick sock will do, Thorlo has spent the best part of the last 20+ years researching, refining and producing a sock which provides considerable cushioning and so are much better than cheaper alternatives. Thorlo also utilise a unique method to weave and stitch their socks, along with utilising a mix of acrylic fibers, which not only results in a durable sock, but one which will also keep your feet dry, comfortable and healthy. For example, Thorlo use quality wicking fibres like Coolmax and Thor-lon to remove moisture from your foot and in doing so help your feet stay dry and avoid any nasty blisters! So remember a good quality cushioned sock along with quality footwear will minimize the impact and damage to your feet through running, walking, hiking, gym, tennis and so on.
So there you have it................
If protecting your feet is important and you engage in activities that are hard on your feet (and yes that includes anything from walking to hiking in the mountains) then why not consider a pair of Thorlos. You won't be disappointed!
Here is the best part. If you buy a pair of Thorlos and think they are not as good as an ordinary sock simply return them within 30 days and you will get your money back. That's the Thorlos guarantee!
